What People are Saying About Ƶ's I.B. Program

According to the IB website, "there are more than 3,900 high schools that teach IB programs. Those schools employ over 70,000 educators, teaching more than one million students worldwide." Additionally, the IB "offers a continuum of international education."

Conversations with families of IB students and IB coordinators about Ƶ's new policy also continue to elicit strong support.

"This policy is absolutely phenomenal," said Eric Bringardner, International Baccalaureate coordinator for Dublin Coffman High School in Dublin, Ohio. Beyond offering credit, "it really gets at the heart of what it means to be an IB student and rewards their educational risk-taking both socially and academically. The sophomore status will allow students to further their intellectual curiosity, allow for potential double majors and alleviate schedule difficulties that frequently arise when planning semesters abroad. The advisor and banquet will help continue the cohort-like atmosphere that the IB program fosters."

"We are hearing such positive feedback, including 'Finally! A higher ed institution that fully understands IB. Probably one of the best IB policies in the nation'," noted Ƶ Parents Association Co-Chairs Steven and Kristen Roach.

Official I.B. Policy

*Ƶ's official IB recognition policy: "International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma holders who achieve a score of 4 or better on SL (Standard Level Exams) or HL (Higher Level Exams) will be awarded up to 29 credits. The Registrar will evaluate these courses upon receipt of the IB Diploma and transcript and, whenever possible, assign general education credit to the classes. In recognition of the writing, rhetorical, and research skills necessary for the successful completion of the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge course required to earn the diploma, IB diploma students will receive 4 credits for English 101 if they receive a grade of "B" or higher on the Extended Essay."
