Today was chillier than most of the previous ones but we cheerfully kept working on our sites. They are coming along quite nicely and we planted some peach trees by both of the houses as gifts to the families. We are becoming quite the experts in both fruit tree planting as well as cement mixing. It was a beautiful sight today when the mother and the children shared their roasted corn and warm fire fueled by cow pies. It was inspiring to say the least as they generously offered that as a token to us when this family had little to give. By the end of the day, the bottom site had completed laying several more rows of bricks and also got a start on constructing the interior wall that will divide the house into two rooms. Everyone had been working so diligently following lunch that the afternoon just flew by and no one was quite ready to be done working come 4:00. Tomorrow we are looking forward to completing the interior wall and also hope to finish up with three of the four sides of the house. At the top site, our major task for the day was laying the cement for the floor inside the house and additionally, we expanded the trench that surrounds the house to help protect the house from erosion and weathering. With tomorrow being our last day at both of the work sites, we are excited to see what we can complete and hope that we can even see our projects through all the way to the end.
Can't wait for tomorrow and the rest of what we have in store here in Lesotho!
