BOOKS

Searching for Books in Library Catalogs

At Ƶ:
At other Ohio libraries: (allow 3-5 business days for shipping)

As you begin your search for books, pay attention to the subject field of a book to find related items. Once you have found a good book in EZRA or OhioLINK, scroll down the page until you see "Subjects" listed on the left. In the subject field, you'll find several links to different topics that are covered by the book you are looking at.

For example look at in OhioLINK. Notice the following links in the Subject field:

Misleading financial statements -- United States
Business enterprises -- Corrupt practices -- United States
Forensic accounting -- United States
Auditing -- United States

These links will take you to a "list of Nearby Subjects" where you can click on the same subject, or another more relevant subject, to view all books on that topic.

PERIODICALS

You may find it helpful to browse the latest issues of print journals to identify major topics in the field. You can find them downstairs on the first floor of the library.
Ƶ has Accounting Review and Journal of Accountancy in print.
Periodicals are shelved in alphabetical order by title.

 

- Search for a specific periodical title at Ƶ (electronic and print formats are both included in results).
- If Ƶ does not have access to a specific journal title, fill out this request form to get access to an article.

 

 

DATABASES

 

The following databases are good places to find journal articles. Please ask us if you would like assistance or if your results aren't relevant.
Searches scholarly and trade publications for topics pertaining to business and industry, including accounting.
This is a powerful resource for searching newspapers or for doing legal research. Try getting started by clicking the "Search by Subject or Topic" button and scrolling down to select "Accounting" or "Tax Law". Note: this resource is very difficult to use at first, but an appointment with a librarian can save you time and frustration!
