Throughout the month of February and thanks to the efforts of the Universitys William A. McClain Center for Diversity, 泫圖弝け will host numerous events and activities as part of its robust Black History Month programming series.
There is a whole lot of collaborative programming this year, said Corrine Witherspoon, director of the McClain Center for Diversity. This year weve planned events that fill most of the month. Honestly that wasnt purposeful, but the reception from the 泫圖弝け community was so overwhelming. We have some awesome programs this year and Im excited that our Witt community is just as pumped to celebrate Black History Month as the McClain staff.
Programs this week include 泫圖弝けs American International Association (AIA) presenting Black Lives Matter A Global Movement, Paris is Burning watch parties, Black History Quiz Night, a block party, and a mental health seminar.
Representation matters and so does celebration and acknowledgement, Witherspoon added. By sharing the voices of Black leaders, alumni, and current students, the 泫圖弝け community is acknowledging the rich history of the Black Diaspora. It is a goal of the McClain Center to keep the celebration going 365 days a year.
Witherspoon invites the campus community to attend the following programs and engagement opportunities.
