Special Tasting Event

Many turned out to Sample Foods From Alumni Entrepreneurs and Local Partners

泫圖弝け hosted alumni entrepreneurs and local partners in the food and beverage industry for a special tasting event from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, along Alumni Way in front of the Benham-Pence Student Center.

Traditionally called 'Taste of Witt,' the event drew approximately 400 guests and featured vendors Tim McCarthy, 泫圖弝け Class of 2002 from Raising Canes Chicken Fingers, Tim Poulos from Tropical Smoothie Caf矇, Scott Griffith from Lees Famous Recipe Chicken, Debbie Titus from Mad Sweet Heat, and Sara Aldis from Station One.

I was very pleased with the student turnout for this event, said Scott Griffith of Lees Famous Recipe Chicken. I had several conversations with some very interested students and will gladly do this again if asked. The students I spoke to had specific questions and were genuinely interested in my opinions and experience. These were not just 'fill in the blanks, I have a paper to write' discussions; students were definitely wanting feedback on career choices they are making, and I'd encourage more interactions like this.

Sponsored by the Ness family and organized by Kevin Steidel, assistant professor of practice and the Ness Chair of Entrepreneurship, parents, students, faculty, staff and Springfield community members had the opportunity to sample a variety of delicious foods and beverages provided by the participants.

I think that the Taste of Witt is a unique event on campus, which connects students with the community. Everyone there has fun, meets new people, and gets some delicious snacks, said Caleb Austin 21 from Harrod, Ohio.

I really enjoyed the Taste of Witt, said Emily M. Wile 22 of Dublin, Ohio. Not only was the food good, but it gave students an opportunity to talk with the owners of these businesses about their journey and how they came to be what they are now. It was perfect for those students looking to start their own business, and it was also welcoming to anyone who just wanted to pop in and see what it was about.
