Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ University will sponsor the 21st annual Community Sing of George Friedrich Handel's "Messiah" at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9 in Weaver Chapel.
Basil Fett, choral director at Wayne High School and Covenant Presbyterian Church, will conduct soloists, a string quartet and chorus in selections from Parts I and II of this choral masterpiece.
Soloists for the evening will include Rebecca Weaver, soprano, Carla Drye, alto, Michael Wright, tenor and J. Chris Moore, baritone. Trudy Faber, professor of music, will accompany on both organ and harpsichord. The string quartet will consist of Guang Zhu and Karen Gordon, violin, Karen Bailey, viola, and Dan Kazez, cello.
Anyone who enjoys singing is invited to be a part of the chorus. Established choirs are urged to attend together and enjoy this impromptu singing experience with hundreds of voices. Singers are asked to furnish their own complete score.
If you don't feel like being an active participant, just come to listen. What's a concert without an audience?
Although there is no admission charge, persons attending may make a freewill donation to help offset the cost of the performance. For more information call the music department at (937) 327-7340.
