2010 Witt Law Day

Pre-Law Association Hosts Fourth Annual Witt Law Day April 20

For the fourth straight year, 泫圖弝けs Pre-Law Association is hosting a spring event that focuses on the free exchange of ideas that epitomizes a liberal arts education.

Themed Welcome to the Wonderful World of Intellectual Property Law, Witt Law Day 2010 is scheduled for Tuesday, April 20. This years event features a presentation by Ken Germain, distinguished professorial practitioner in residence at the University of Dayton School of Law at 7 p.m. in Room 201 of the Joseph C. Shouvlin Center for Lifelong Learning.

The keynote speech will follow the Witt Law Day dinner at 5 p.m. in the Bayley Alumni House.

We are very excited that Professor Germain is joining us for Witt Law Day this year to share his expertise, said Assistant Professor of Political Science Heather Wright, who serves as the Pre-Law Associations adviser and the universitys Pre-Law Adviser. If my conversations with him are any indication, this stands to be an invigorating experience for all in attendance.

Germain is an intellectual property lawyer who focuses on trademarks and unfair competition. He was retained as the winning sides legal expert in the famed TrafFix case decided by the United States Supreme Court in 2001, and he also serves as counsel at Wood Herron & Evans LLP in Cincinnati.

Organizers of Witt Law Day 2010 are Pre-Law Association executive board members Sara Wheeler, class of 2010 from Bucyrus, Ohio, president; Brittany Cravens, class of 2010 from Waterville, Ohio, vice president; and Kelli Hayes, class of 2010 from Dublin, Ohio, treasurer.

The Pre-Law Association was created to provide students interested in attending law school or pursuing a career in law with resources to help them succeed. In addition to Witt Law Day, the organization hosts practice LSAT sessions with peers, workshops to help with applications, community service projects, a film series and law school visits, including a trip to the University of Toledo in 2007 to hear United States Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia speak.

All events are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Wright at (937) 327-7992 or via e-mail at hwright@wittenberg.edu.
