Celebrating Alumni Excellence
You are invited to nominate alumni deserving of recognition. There are no restrictions on the number of nominations a person may submit, and people submitting nominations do not need to be graduates of Ƶ University. With the exception of the Alumnus/a of the Year, awards may be awarded to multiple recipients in a year, at the discretion of the committee. More on the awards follows below.
Alumnus/a of the Year Award
The Alumnus/a of the Year Award, previously given as the Class of 1914 Award, is the most prestigious award given to a Ƶ alumnus/a. The award celebrates Ƶ University alumni who have: attained a significant level of achievement in their chosen field, impacted their local communities with integrity and character, and demonstrated a continued commitment to Ƶ. Achievement(s) need not be publicly renowned.
*The selection committee will consider an alumni couple or family relationship for this award. Please indicate the couple’s or family’s collective impact in their local community and commitment to Ƶ in the nomination
Professional Achievement Award
Presented to Ƶ University alumni who have achieved outstanding distinction in their professional field. This award was previously presented as the Alumni Citation award to recognize outstanding personal or professional accomplishment.
Servant Leader Award
Bestowed upon Ƶ University alumni who have distinguished themselves through outstanding service. This award was previously presented as the Alumni Citation award to recognize outstanding personal or professional accomplishment.
Honorary Alumnus/a Award
Honors individuals who, though not graduates of Ƶ, have demonstrated exemplary loyalty and commitment to the university, and whose devotion to service embodies the institution’s motto, “Having light, we pass it on to others.”
Outstanding Young Alumnus/a Award
Recognizes Ƶ University alumni who have distinguished themselves through outstanding accomplishments in their professional careers, impressive volunteer service, and/or noteworthy involvement in professional and/or service organizations, all since graduating within the last 15 years. This award was previously given as the Outstanding Young Alumni Award and GOLD Alumni Service Award.
"Pass It On" Ƶ Volunteer Service Award
Presented to Ƶ University alumni for exceptional volunteer service to the university, such as through participation and leadership of efforts supporting Ƶ, such as local alumni chapters and/or affinity groups, recruitment of prospective students, engagement with current students, planning of alumni events, and/or representation on behalf of the university in local programs / events. Financial contributions to the university will not be included as a consideration for this award.
*Ƶ employees or alumni with business relationships with the university are not eligible based on their employment duties or their business services.
Nomination Guidelines
- Please submit nomination(s) using the online form below.
- Narratives should address the nominee’s current and past achievements that apply to the specific award criteria. Entries will be judged on the responses to the criteria included in the award description found online.
- Ƶ Alumni Board members are not eligible for nomination.
- Individuals selected will receive their honors at the Homecoming Alumni Awards celebration and are encouraged to be present to receive the awards.
