Move-In Information

Move-in is an exciting and sometimes stressful time for students and families. Our staff strive to make move-in as smooth as possible for all involved.

Move-In Links:

It is vital that students and families plan their arrival around the designated move-in schedules as that allows our staff adequate time to prepare for the student and their experience.

  • Students should arrive at the designated check-in location during the specified hours on the move-in date for their student type. This was communicated through the student's Ƶ email account. Arrivals outside of the designated times are not permitted and may be denied entirely or charged a daily fee.
  • Students will need a picture ID for check-in (school ID, license, passport, etc.) and they need to ensure that all holds have been cleared prior to arrival. An account hold can prevent Residence Life from issuing a key or permitting the student to move-in.
  • Students should wait until Residence Life issues them a key to move into their residence - even if their roommate has already arrived.

Once the student has completed check-in paperwork and received their room key, they should conduct a thorough examination of the condition of the room (and living space) to ensure the condition of the room is accurately reflected on the Room Condition Report (RCR).

  • In Residence Halls, this is generally completed with Residence Life staff if time permits, however, the presence/absence of Residence Life staff does not alter the student's responsibility to complete and return the RCR within 24 hours of key issuance.
  • In the 'Burbs, the RCR is completed by the student and returned to the Student Development Office. Responsibility is placed on the student to return the form within 24-48 hours of arrival or communicated date.
  • The RCR is used to determine whether the student has caused damage to university facilities or property beyond normal wear and tear.
  • If the Student fails to complete and return the RCR, the residential property will be assumed to be in good and clean condition with standard amenities provided.
  • It is the student's responsibility to report all needed maintenance repairs to Residence Life staff as needs arise, so that repairs can be made in a timely manner as well as to avoid unnecessary charges.

Any questions about assignments, move-in dates, early or late arrivals, or preparing for move-in should be sent to housing@wittenberg.edu.

Any questions about RCRs, room or key concerns, or other check-in questions should be directed to the ResLife staff for your housing area.
